GP Partner. After completing her specialist GP Registrar training at Charter Medical Centre in 2016, we were delighted that Helen stayed on with us as a Salaried GP, and became a GP Partner in 2020.

GP Partner. My special interests in the practice are diabetes, general medicine and medical education. I am one of the trainers at the practice responsible for teaching future GPs. Outside interest include playing music and mountain biking. I work as a job share with my wife, Dr Jane Jenkinson and generally work Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Trainee GP Registrars

We are a training practice for GP Registrars. A GP Registrar is an experienced doctor who has decided to specialise in general practice to become a GP. The Registrar is fully supervised by one of our qualified doctors. You will be told when you book your appointment if you are seeing the Registrar. You may choose to see a GP instead. The practice is inspected for training which involves examination of medical records. Only approved doctors will do this and they will respect the confidentiality of all information. The Registrar is usually based in the practice initially for a few months and then they return for a longer period at a later date.

Physician's Associate

Physician's Associates are medically trained, generalist healthcare professionals, who work alongside doctors and provide medical care as part of the multidisciplinary team. Physician Associates work with medical support and cannot prescribe but are able to make assessments and get help from a GP if prescriptions are needed

Nurse Practitioners & Advanced Nurse Practitioners

Our Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) are qualified to do most of the things a GP can do (see exceptions below) and can diagnose, prescribe medication, and refer to other services / hospital. These clinicians should be used as an alternative to a Doctor. These clinicians are NOT part of our Practice Nursing Team and should NOT be booked for routine Practice Nursing Team appointments. Please see the Appointments section of this website for a full list of the types of appointments which should be booked with our Practice Nursing team. ANPs / NPs cannot Issue Sick Notes, treat pregnancy related problems or treat mental / emotion health problems Our NPs see patients aged 18 or over. Our ANPs see patients of all ages except babies who have not yet had their 6 week check with a GP. For Medication Reviews please DO NOT BOOK an appointment. Apply to our Clinical Pharmacy team using our Online contact form.

KERIE HENLEY

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

As an ANP, Kerie has a Masters degree. She is happy to see Adults, children, and babies who have had their 6 week check with a GP. She can do medication reviews. She can see patients for low mood anxiety but not complex mental health disorders. She cannot see pregnant women. She cannot issue Sick Notes. Kerie has an interest in community care and advanced care planning particularly for frail and elderly patients. She looks after patients at a local care homes Kerie should be used like a Doctor. She is NOT part of the Nursing Team at Charter and should not be booked for routine Practice Nurse appointments.

CLARE HELPS

Nurse Practitioner

Having joined us as a Practice Nurse, Clare has now qualified as a Nurse Practitioner. Clare can diagnose, prescribe and refer so she should be used like a Doctor. Clare cannot see patients under 18 years old. Clare cannot issue Sick Notes, treat pregnancy related problems, or treat serious mental / emotional problems. Clare is not part of the Charter Nurse Team so should NOT be booked for routine Nurse appointments.

NATALIE WOODMAN

Nurse Practitioner joined Charter in April 2021 Natalie can diagnose, prescribe and refer so she should be used like a Doctor. Natalie cannot see patients under 18 years old. She cannot issue Sick Notes, treat pregnancy related problems, or treat serious mental / emotional problems. Natalie is not part of the Charter Nurse Team so should NOT be booked for routine Nurse appointments.

JO JUSTICE

Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) with Masters Degree.. We are delighted Jo has re-joined us in January 2022. Jo can see Adults and children,. She can see babies AFTER they have had their 6 week check with a GP. Jo cannot issue Sick Notes, treat pregnancy related problems or treat serious mental /emotional health problems. Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Becky works with the Sussex Community Foundation Trust. She will be helping us to manage our Care Home patients as part of a multidisciplinary Care Home team at Charter from November 2023

ANBREEN KHAN

Anbreen is a senior physiotherapist working in a new role in general practice. She can be booked for muscular and joint problems. She does not deliver physical treatments, but can advise on a wide number of options to help with your problem. Anbreen is working at Trinity and Health and Wellbeing Medical Center too, as part of a new shared role.

Practice Clinical Pharmacy Team

Our Clinical Pharmacy Team do NOT work for the Charter Pharmacy on site which is run by Ackers. The surgery employs a Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Clerks to help manage our patients's prescription requests, medication reviews and changes efficiently and safely. Our Clinical Pharmacist also sees patients for some Annual Reviews of long term conditions such as Diabetes and Hypertension.

Practice Clinical Pharmacists

Practice Clinical pharmacists are highly qualified experts in medicines and can help people in a range of ways. This includes carrying out structured medication reviews for patients with ongoing health problems and improving patient safety, outcomes and value through a person-centred approach.

REBECCA BROWN

Senior Practice Clinical Pharmacist

In addition to her Clinical Pharmacist qualifications, Rebecca will shortly complete her Masters Degree as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. Rebecca manages the Practice Clinical Pharmacy Team to ensure that your medications are reviewed and are kept up to date, for instance after a stay in hospital. Rebecca also does some telephone and face to face reviews for patients with long term conditions such as diabetes. She will soon start to see a wider range of patients.

Practice Nursing Team

Our Nursing Team is made up of Practice Nurses (qualified and registered nurses) together with Health Care Assistants and a Phlebotomist who does Blood Tests. Our Nursing Team can help with a wide range of health issues and also run clinics for long-term health conditions. For the full list of appointments that should be booked with our Nursing Team (and NOT with a Doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner) see the Practice Nurse section on the Appointments page of this website.

Please see our Appointments Page for a list of the type of appointments which can be seen by a qualified Practice Nurse. Different issues need different lengths of time with different nurses and may need a Blood Test or Questionnaire in advance. So please DO NOT use NAMED APPOINTMENT SLOTS (eg. Cervical Screen slots) with Practice Nurses unless invited to so for that particular issue. Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants (HCAs) support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (Blood Tests), blood pressure measurement and New Patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor asks for one. Phlebotomists are trained to take blood.

Community Nurses (District Nurses)

The Integrated Primary Care Team provide nursing care for patients in their own homes. They are based at Conway Court Clinic in Hove during the day. They can be contacted on 01273 728281

Children's Health Visitors

Telephone: 01273 728281 Children's health visitors are specialist nurses who give advice to families with young children. They are based at Children’s Centres which offer a range of specialist services for families as part of the Sure Start Community Under 5's Teams. Your local children's centre is allocated according to where you live but most of our patients will be allocated to Conway Court Clinic and Children's Centre, Hove.
